    1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 White & Blue
Launched in 1964, the Ford Mustang was a trend setter. Relatively compact, the car was aimed at young people for its affordability and sporty nature. The product was so successful it was the most successful vehicle launch since the 1927 Model A and sold a million cars in less than two years. It even created a class all its own, called the “pony” car.
Of course, more is always better and by mid-1964 Lee Iaccoca sought out Carroll Shelby to create a racing version of the Mustang. Shelby had only months to build a better handling, harder-hitting powerhouse if it was to compete as a B Production SCCA race car. For extra drama, qualifying for the SCCA class required production of no less than 100 street-legal examples.
Engineered by Chuck Cantwell, Ken Miles helmed the mechanical development with designer Peter Brock on the graphics. They were completed just in time for the 1965 season. With a 289 cubic inch V8 engine delivering 306 horsepower, the race car performed like a champ and won the B Production National Championships in 1965 and 1966. In fact, they beat Shelby’s own Cobras! And the streetcar? They made over 2,300 in those two years.
Now AFX brings the Shelby Mustang to life with its white body donning original Guardsman Blue metallic race stripes and chrome wheels.
CHASSIS TYPE: Long (1.7”) Wheelbase Chassis

The (3) piece set of 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback in HO Scale with Mega G+ power. They are Very quick HO scale slot cars. New mold is brilliantly proportioned and detailed. The Red, Green and Blue pay homage to the AURORA GRAND NATIONALS 60TH ANNIVERSARY release of this new body design & release. 1.7 Wheelbase.

In 1962, Ford Motor Company and Aurora Plastics united to create one of the most successful slot car racing programs in history - The Grand Nationals Championship. Auroras President, Abe Shikes and his friend Lee Iacocca of Ford, struck a deal; Aurora would promote all of their HO scale Ford model slot cars and Ford would donate a real car to the winner.
The Championship was massively successful and ran until 1968. To enter the events racers had to purchase a Competition Pac with Limited Edition Mustangs, just like these.

Colors will never be made again.

1965 Shelby GT350R Donohue HO Slot CarMark Donohue, a multi-talented racer and degreed engineer, amassed a remarkable record of championships, victories, and innovative cars developed across 8 different racing classes.

But it was his 1965 race wins and SCCA Divisional Championship in a Shelby GT350R that helped bring him to the attention of a certain Roger Penske. This began a racing partnership that would yield legendary race wins and success for many years.

The GT350 “R” model was rare indeed with only 37 ever made specifically for competitive use under SCCA rules. The car made an excellent impression on racing circuits, becoming the B-Production divisional champion 3 years in a row.

In typical AFX fashion, the HO Scale version of this car comes fully decked out with even the smallest details like the racing oil cooler under the front grill and the tapered white stripes over the beautiful Guardsman blue body. Even the 5 spoke wheels are the style used when the car was raced.

The Mega-G+ is easily the lightest chassis you can buy. Add that to the lowest center of gravity and you get a car that is fast and nimble. Most realistic. Best Performance. Fun to drive. What a combination!

The AFX Mega-G+ HO slot cars are best driven with a 90 or 120 ohm controller such as the AFX 21036 120 ohm controller.

Chassis: Mega-G+ Long (1.7 inch) wheelbase chassis

Features: clear windows, photo realistic interior, 5-spoke wheels, extra long tapered guide pin, level 30 neodymium traction magnets, durable Nylatron chassis material, long lasting high carbon motor brushes, fully assembled and ready to race on most HO scale slot car tracks including AFX, Auto World, Tyco, etc.
